Do I Have ADHD?

Take the quiz (Don’t use this to diagnose yourself; I know you were thinking about it ;).)

Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) is a taxing disorder that manifests in poor self-esteem, low productivity, and unrealized potential. The two hallmark symptoms of ADHD are inconsistency and emotional dysregulation, but there are others, including:

  • Procrastination
  • Disorganization
  • Over-excitability
  • Impulsivity
  • Irritability
  • Problems concentrating
  • Hyperfocus

  • Forgetfulness
  • Lack of motivation
  • Feeling overwhelmed
  • Attentional difficulties
  • Emotional hypersensitivity
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Aggression

Behavioral: aggression, excitability, fidgeting, hyperactivity, impulsivity, irritability, lack of restraint, or persistent repetition of words or actions

Cognitive: absent-mindedness, difficulty focusing, forgetfulness, problem paying attention, or short attention span

Mood: anger, anxiety, boredom, excitement, or mood swings

Also common: depression or learning disability

Here’s the thing. . . if you can relate to the feeling of living your life with “Consistent Inconsistency,” you might suffer from ADHD.

Although ADHD is a well-researched, genetic cognitive disorder, accurate diagnosis is often missed by doctors. Underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed ADHD is common, especially in adults, often mistaken for anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and alcohol or drug dependence.

Beginning to Heal

I work with children (and their families), and adults with ADHD.

My approach in treating adult ADHD is to use different techniques to help you learn how your beautiful brain functions. You’ll learn about your own unique processes and what works for you — and, perhaps more importantly — what doesn’t work for you.

When working with children with ADHD, I meet with the parents to discuss their concerns, and conduct an assessment to rule out other possible explanations for concerning behaviors. I’ll provide you with resources on the most effective ways to discipline and structure your child’s time, as well as offer crucial insights on your child’s capabilities.

A Brighter Future

Imagine if you could recognize, name, and manage each of your emotions. Suddenly life becomes fun again. As your professional counselor, I’ll help you get there by teaching you to cultivate self-love and compassion. And I’ll teach you the power of embracing vulnerability. We’ll also work together on emotional insight and education. And finally, we’ll unpack and deal with any emotional trauma that might be related to your experience of ADHD.
